M.J. (Bud) Long started Froehling Anderson – then M.J. Long & Assoc - in 1946. We are celebrating our 75th anniversary, and it's given us an opportunity to pause and reflect on how we got to where we are today.
We're known for our dedication to business consulting, tax, audit and accounting services. When we first began, we were purely a business consulting firm. Then, Long hired on a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Joe Froehling, and we were able to become a CPA firm as well. From there, the rest is history. But one thing has remained consistent: we've been advisors since the very beginning. We're proud to continue to be that for our clients today.
It is through this detailed attention to guidance that we have been able to grow organically rather than through acquisition, unlike some of our competitors. We find great opportunity in this type of growth because it allows us to cultivate strong relationships with our clients.
We have established ourselves as a firm that puts the people first. We harbor long lasting client relationships that truly make an impact on each individual journey to financial success, and we are honored to be there every step of the way.

Outsiders may be quick to label us as small, and compared to other firms in the Twin Cities area that may be true. We don't claim to have the largest portfolio of clients, but we also don't see the label of "smaller" as necessarily being a bad thing.
We are small but mighty, and we see a great amount of positivity in that. At the end of the day, growth doesn't just refer to the literal size of a business. Growth is the way you establish yourself. We have grown into the firm that we are today because we honor the details and we take the time to make connections. Ultimately, we are the experts that you can trust. We've always been that way, and it's a perspective that has stood the test of time.
