An Intern’s Busy Season Experience

An Intern’s Busy Season Experience

By Froehling Anderson | Mar 22, 2015

With only four weeks of my internship left, I am close to completing my first busy season.  Walking into this internship, I was not sure what to expect.  I was full of nervousness, excitement, and curiosity.  I knew I had found a passion within accounting while I was taking my final accounting classes, however, I knew being out in the field would be completely different from sitting in a classroom.  My first few days with the firm made me feel like I had chosen the right major and the right path to take my career on.  The staff immediately made it a welcoming environment where I felt as though I could ask them questions and get advice about “real world” accounting.

Throughout my internship, I worked on a wide range of tasks alongside other accountants including compilations, business and individual tax returns, and audits.  I have had the opportunity to learn new software and become accustomed to the technological aspect of accounting.  I enjoyed getting to work in all areas of this company, especially because I am receiving a well-rounded experience.  I consistently feel as though I can ask anyone in the office for help, whether it is a staff accountant or a partner of the firm.  The level of comfort I felt at this firm was eye opening to what type of work culture would be beneficial for me to work at in the future.  Froehling Anderson is a company that embraces an intern’s learning curve and understands that an intern needs support but also needs to be challenged.

Overall, my experience at Froehling Anderson has been above and beyond what I had hoped for.  Although it was stressful at times, I always knew I had a network of people within the company that would support my needs.  I am grateful for the experience and knowledge I have gained from not only the staff, but also those higher up in the firm.  It has been such a rewarding experience to complete my first busy season and know what I will be getting into in the future!
